Warranty
Each computer-designed hull mould has been carefully constructed to exacting Crystal Kayak standards. Trained assembly technicians place GE™ Lexan™ 6mm sheets into the vacuum mould for a perfect form. Laser-guided machinery perform all hull perforation steps for the framework and attaching hardware. Quality checks are performed throughout the hull creation process which allows us to offer an industry-leading 2-Year Warranty.
Crystal Kayak warrants for a period of 2 year following delivery of the Products (the “Warranty Period”) that the Products shall be free from defects in materials and workmanship. Crystal Kayak’s sole obligation under this warranty shall be to provide replacement Products. Defective Products must be returned to Crystal Kayak in order to receive warranty replacement (unless Crystal Kayak determines such a return is not necessary) and shall become Crystal Kayak's property. Shipping & Returns
RETURN OF DEFECTIVE/WRONG MERCHANDISE
If you receive defective or wrong merchandise that is not able to be rectified, The Crystal Kayak Company will not charge you a restocking fee or shipping. Simply call us if this situation arises and we will arrange to have the items picked up at no cost to you. (Note: It is your responsibility to ensure that the items are packaged in original (or similar) packaging and ready for shipment.)
GENERAL RETURNS
In order to return an item, you must first request an RMA (Return Merchandise Authorization) number from The Crystal Kayak Company. The Crystal Kayak Company must receive this request no later than seven (7) business days from receipt of the merchandise. You may request an RMA number by sending an email to info@thrillseekergear.com. No merchandise may be returned without an RMA#. Shipping fees are non-refundable and you will be responsible for return shipping costs, up to and including any shipping costs originally paid by The Crystal Kayak Company not covered in your original purchase. A re-stocking fee of $500 may apply if the Kayak is deemed unfit to resell as new. If your order ships and you cancel immediately after it ships, you will still be responsible for all outbound and inbound shipping costs. In this case you will still need to receive the order and then call us to arrange a return per the above RMA instructions. Refusal of a shipment is not an acceptable way of returning/canceling an order and may be subject to additional fees and penalties. While we do our very best to meet customer deadlines, there are always situations where a deadline can't be met. Failure to meet a deadline does not remove a customer's obligation to pay the normal cancellation fees. The best way to prevent this is to make sure we are aware of your deadline and to monitor your emails for a tracking number sent out around the time an order gets shipped.
In your request for an RMA# please include the following:
- Your order number.
- The item number of the products you wish to return.
- The quantity of the item you want to return.
- The reason for the return.
Note: All merchandise must be returned in the original condition, packaging and shipping configuration. Generally your order will ship within a week but it's VERY IMPORTANT that if you have a deadline you meet, you make us aware of it. Your credit card statement will reflect both the charge and the refund. If the order has shipped, it will be subject to shipping and restocking charges as described above. Q. Is it a 1-person or 2-person?
A. Each Crystal Kayak comes with 2 seats and 2 paddles. You can easily convert it to a 1-person arrangement by simply removing a seat (takes 5 seconds)
Q. It looks like a canoe?
A. It's a kayak/canoe hybrid. It has a flatter bottom than a kayak or canoe and is wider. You paddle with kayak paddles, and it can seat up to 2 people. More storage area and legroom than a traditional kayak.
Q. Can they stack for easy storage?
A. Yes and No. To truly stack (nest) them you need to remove the interior frame which takes 5-10 minutes. Because this can get tedious; we recommend doing this for more long-term storage plans.

Q. Do the hulls scratch easily?
A. No - as long as basic common-sense steps are followed to avoid creating conditions that lead to scratches.
- ALWAYS spray down the kayak with fresh water after each use. Particulate matter is what leads to scratches.... wash out salt and sand!
- NEVER drag them on the ground. When you're done using a kayak be sure to pick it up out of the water before it has a chance to drag on the sand/rocks/grass/etc.
Q. If scratches start to appear is there something I can do to reduce them?
A. Yes. We offer a Crystal Kayak Hull Restoration Kit.
Q. I'm a little nervous about sharks. Would the Crystal Kayak or LED lights attract sharks?
A.When we were designing the Crystal Kayak, we considered this. We spoke with a Marine Biologist in Florida who confirmed that this is NOT how Sharks hunt. They hunt by sensing food (chum, blood, etc.) in the water. Even the shape of the Crystal Kayak is safer as the transparent body does not resemble any sea life shapes or other animals. Science is amazing!
Q. Why would I buy a Crystal Kayak if the water has low visibility?
A. You might be surprised! Even in waters without great clarity, you can see more than you would in a traditional kayak. Because the hull submerges a few inches in the water, oftentimes you can't see it due to sand and other grime or debris in the water rising to the surface.
Q. Why is my Crystal Kayak hard to control? It rocks and sways.
A. The problem is in the SKEG on the back. It has either fallen off or is damaged (usually from dragging it out of the water). Without the SKEG, the kayak will rock, sway and drift. The SKEG will keep it centered, you will have more control and the ride is way better. It is still safe to use without a SKEG and will not capsize. If you are renting a Crystal Kayak, be sure the SKEG is attached, you will appreciate it.
Q. Does the Crystal Kayak tip over easily?
A. Nope. Because of the design, it would take a lot to tip. Getting in and out is easy. After some practice, you can slide overboard to go swimming, snorkeling, or diving. Climbing back in will also not flip the Crystal Kayak. This all takes a little practice to get used to the feel. You will get some water in the hull, just have your microfiber bailing sponge on board.
ASSEMBLY STEPS
- VERY IMPORTANT IF YOU HAVE ORDERED MULTIPLE KAYAKS! Check to make sure the serial number on your frame matches the serial number on the hull.
- Insert the frame inside the hull and line it up with the holes. The frame should say FRONT SIDE UP.
- Fasten the middle crossbar to the hull. The crossbar goes in the back holes.
- Fasten the rest of the frame to the hull using the hand-knobs and eye bolts.
- Tighten the straps to desired fit.
- Inflate the flotation bladders (they only need to be 60% full to function properly). Secure them to the hull of the boat with the elastics and clips. The eye bolts at the front and back of the kayak are secured with the provided washers, on either side of the Lexan, to prevent direct contact.
- Align the skeg assembly with the holes on the stern of the kayak. Attach the skeg with the bolts and washers and tighten with an allen key.
- Use the remaining elastic to secure the skeg. Thread it through the hole in the skeg and then loop it around the hand-knobs and use the black fasteners to tighten it.
- To assemble the paddle connect the 2 metal pieces.
